American Legion Post 325
Baseball
Since
1925, The American Legion has sponsored a nationwide youth baseball program. During
these past eight decades, millions of young players have enjoyed playing baseball.
The American Legion and their 2.8 million members have raised millions of
dollars each year for players to learn the importance of teamwork, discipline,
leadership and good sportsmanship. The American Legion sponsors American Legion
Baseball to give players an opportunity to develop their skills, personal
fitness, leadership qualities and to have fun.

The
Robert Meachen Post 325 has been an integral part of the Blissfield Post 325 Legion
Baseball Team since 1968. Post 325 and Coach Larry Tuttle joined forces in 1968.
Since the formation of the union between Coach Tuttle and Post 325, Blissfield
Post 325 has worked hard to earn the distinction as one of the premiere baseball
teams in the State of Michigan.
Post
325 has reached the State Tournament 15 times, with State Championships in 1977,1993, 2003 and 2007. In 1977, the team finished runner-up in the National Region V to South
Bend, Indiana. South Bend went on to win American Legion World Series Champions.
In 1993 Post 325 went to the American Legion World Series and finished third after
being beaten by Miami, Florida, the National Champion and Chino, California the
National Runner-up. In 2003 and 2007, Post 325 finished fourth in their division in National

Coach Jim Kohn,
former High School Coach at Monroe Catholic Central and Airport, has been a major
force in the success of the Post 325 program since 1982. He is well respected
throughout the state of Michigan for his knowledge of the game and dedication
to Post 325. Coach Kohn and Coach Tuttle have worked together for the past 25
years to American Legion baseball and Post 325.
The
2007 season brought two new additions to the Post 325 program. Coach Dave Sontag
joined the Post 325 program and brought a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to
the program. Coach Sontag has coached at Monroe Jefferson High School for 25 years
with numerous trips to the state high school tournament and led the Monroe Jefferson
Bears to a State Division II championship. Our General Manager is Ken Graf.
Ken helps with the overall operation of the organization. With the addition
of Coach Sontag and Ken Graf, we will continue to work together to bring Post 325 to even higher
levels. |
